Latex Gloves
Latex or rubber gloves are made from natural or synthetic rubber. It’s usually dipped in Latex solution, which contains chloride ions, sulfate ions, and sodium ions to get rid of water molecules through the vulcanization process between the polymer chains. The reaction is catalyzed by using an accelerator called ZnO or accelerators like bromide or phosphate that connect with atoms present on both sides of the polymer chain to make it crosslink, giving flexibility to the glove while maintaining its strength.

Nitrile Gloves
Nitrile gloves are made from acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), which is a copolymer of styrene and acrylonitrile. ABS is one of the most common thermoplastic polymers used to make protective equipment because it has high impact resistance, chemical and heat resistance, and oil resistance. It’s also cheaper compared to natural rubber latex and vinyl gloves due to low production costs. The glove’s flexibility decreases as temperature increases, unlike natural rubber latex, which can withstand extreme temperatures, making nitrite gloves perfect for the foodservice industry.

Vinyl gloves are made of Polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which is a polymer consisting of vinyl.
